RSVPIndia - Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. What are the theme, banner and main image sections?
When you create an invitation, we allow you to upload two images to complement your function page.
One is the function banner (recommended dimension of 760px x 100px) and the other is the main image.
If the width of the main image is greater than 450px, it is resized and the larger version is available by clicking the smaller thumbnail.
This feature makes it great for uploading posters and brochures which provide additional information about the function.
The themes in the Function Customization section give you readymade invitation templates.
When you upload your own images, the default images of the theme are replaced by your images.
Q2. Do I receive a mail from RSVPIndia everytime someone responds to my function?
Yes. Though this is not enabled by default.
You will have to set this option from the Other Details section.
Q3. What is a friendly URL?
When a function is created on RSVPIndia, the URL for that function is pretty cryptic and something like:
http://www.rsvpindia.com/Functions/Default.aspx?id=ae19a9d5-972b-4dec-bd36-e4264757bf03
A friendly URL generates a more easy to use URL which you can distribute even verbally.
Hence, a friendly URL is something like: http://functions.rsvpindia.com/johndoe_bday
Note: This functionality is available only when the Do not allow people to RSVP unless invited by email option is disabled.
Q4. Why do the images that I upload, shrink in size?
The width of the banner image on the public display page cannot be larger than 760px.
Hence, when it is, we automatically resize it to maintain the page layout.
There is no restriction on the dimensions of main image that you upload.
However, the space reserved to show this image on the page is limited.
So, whenever the main image is greater than this size, a smaller (resized) version gets displayed on the main page instead.
Clicking on this resized image opens the larger image in a new window.
This feature is excellent for uploading images of the function poster or the function brochure.
However, none of the images can be larger than 512 kilobytes.
Q5. What should be the dimensions of the images that I upload?
For best results, the banner image should not be greater than 760px x 100px.
There are no restrictions on the image size of the main image.
However, the images cannot be greater than 512 kilobytes in size.
Q6. How do I find the responses of invitees that I invited?
Once you have created an invitation to a function:
-- Go back to the function edit page.
-- Click on View/Manage Previously Invited Guests.
Information regarding the RSVPs of your invited guests is shown in a pop-up.
You can also see how many guests are staying back for meals, what is their food preference, etc. if those options had been enabled.
This guest list can also be accessed directly from the My Invitations page.
Q7. What happens when I remove an invitee from my list of invitees?
When you remove a particular invitee from your guest list after an invitation has been sent to that person, the person is removed from the invitation.
Once this is done, the particular invitee will receive an email notifying them that the function has been cancelled.
Q8. What do the options in the
Other Details section mean?
On RSVPIndia, you can create a function and set it up completely according to you needs.
For this, you can set the the following options:
-
Guests can bring other guests: If enabled, the invitees can bring five more guests along with them.
When Invitees will RSVP, they will have the option to fill in the number of guests they will bring along.
This information will be available to you from the Guests Page.
-
Ask Guests whether they will stay back for meals: If enabled, guests will be able to inform you whether
they would be staying back for meals.
-
Ask Guests about their Veg/Non-Veg preferences: If enabled, guests are quizzed on their Veg/Non-Veg food preferences.
-
Email me every time someone replies: If enabled, you will receive an email everytime someone responds to your invitation.
-
Do not allow people to RSVP unless invited by email: If enabled, makes your function a private function in which each guest will
have to be invited individually. (Also turns off the Friendly URL feature)
Q9. Can I preview the invitation before sending it out?
Yes. You can change the function details and options and check how the invitation will look by clicking on
the Preview Invitation link, just below the Done/Update button.
Q10. What happens after the last date to RSVP has passed?
Once the last date to RSVP has passed, your guests will be able to see all the function details -- but will not be able to RSVP.
Those who have already responded, will be able to see their previous response - but will not be able to modify it.
Q11. I am not able to assign a particular friendly URL to my invitation. Why?
This could happen because the URL you are trying to use has already been taken by someone else.
Once a friendly URL has been assigned, it cannot be used unless the original owner deletes the URL or chooses another one.
Another thing which could happen is that you have yourself used this particular URL for a previous function.
If that is the case, we allow you to delete the URL from the previous function and assign the same to the new one.
Note: URLs do not get automatically deleted once the function is over.
Q12. Every time I update my invitation, I am taken to a page which asks me to send an email to all my invitees. Why?
This is a feature provided by RSVPIndia -- which gives you the option to notify your guests incase some major details of the
function have changed. In case the change is not major, you can choose to skip this step entirely.
Please note that invitations are sent to any new guests you invite irrespective of whether you choose to send this update or not.
Q1. How do I access the previous invitations that I created?
Once you have logged into RSVPIndia, you can access the previous invitations that you created by clicking on the
My Invitations link on the top navigation bar.
This page is split into two sections:
Upcoming Functions: Shows you a list of the functions which are still active -- in the ascending order.
(i.e. The closest function is shown first)
Past Functions: Shows you a list of the functions which are over. This list is again sorted in the order of recent first.
Q2. Can I make a copy of a previous invitation that I created?
Yes. RSVPIndia provides a feature by which you can make a replica of a previous invitation.
This option is available from the My Invitations page by clicking on the Copy button
next to the name of an invitation.
When you do this, a brand new invitation is created -- populated with all the details from the original invitation except
the function title, the start date of the function and the last date to RSVP by.
All the guests from the previous invitation will also be seen here. However, no invitations will be sent unless you save the invitation.
You can choose to edit any of the details from the original invitation including the friendly URL.
Q3. What are the things I can do from the
My Invitations page?
The My Invitations page lists down all the invitations that you have created to date.
The following features are available from this page:
Edit: You can edit the details of an existing invitation by clicking on the Edit button next to the invitation title.
View: You can see how an invitation will look to your guests by clicking on the title of the function or the View button next
to the function title.

using the details from an existing invitation.
Manage Guest Lists: You will be able to manage the guest list for a particular invitation by clicking on the Guests button
next to the title of the invitation.
Q4. How can I zoom into an invitation that I created a long time ago quickly?
If you have a lot of invitations on your My Invitations page, a quicker way to navigate is by entering the dates
of the invitation in the text boxes and clicking on the Go button.
To see a list of all the invitations, you can click on the Show All Invitations link at the bottom of
